an ongoing photography based project
Paula Lalala’s artistic practice celebrates the subjective point of view, and explores the relationship between parts and the whole. Cut or torn paper, as well as found naturally occurring apertures, function as framing devices. Sometimes interesting blurring and color interactions occur on the surface plane. These framing “devices” as well as use of the camera and photo printing techniques, are conceived as mechanistic painting and drawing tools. Works in this series offer viewers the opportunity to visually project themselves into another setting. Forms this project takes: limited edition prints on assorted materials, slideshow, book, website.
