Color and Nature: an ongoing photography based project
The works in this series function as portals, offering viewers the opportunity to visually project themselves into pictorial space. Cut or torn paper, as well as naturally occurring apertures, function as devices for framing the landscape. Interesting blurring and color interactions occur on the colored paper plane. These framing “devices” as well as use of the camera and photo printing techniques, are conceived as mechanistic painting and drawing tools. This project began in 2015. It evolved out of a series of more traditional landscape photographs created specifically for hospital bedrooms.
